WE ARE LISTENING
Welcome back every one. One more warm, exciting and challenging academic year is ahead of us. Let's all face it bravely and give it our best shot. All the best.
Once again, thank you Mr Ram and Mr Anonymous for your opinions on the matter of appointment of our new Secretary and Joint Secretary (click here to know why). We aren't just deleting your comments. We are indeed, listening to you. We are writing this entry to clear some of the misconceptions and myths many of you seem to have harboured in your minds. The most prominent among those is the one related to the posts of Secretary, Joint Secretary and the Executive Body.
Here are a few related truths:
The Secretary and the Joint Secretary are NOT leaders of the ISTE chapter of our college. They simply represent and co-ordinate the activities of the Executive Body (Junior) . Nothing Less, Nothing More. It's as simple as that. They summon the body and and chair their meetings. They form the main communication channel between the Chair and the Jr Body. They don't enjoy any special powers. They can allot works to the members of the body but can't command them to do it. In case, someone refuses or fails to perform a duty, they can only report the matter to the Chair.
After reading all this one may get a doubt:
'If Secretary and Joint Secretary aren't supposed to lead the ISTE, then who else does that?'
Ans: No one. ISTE is not a body where one gets to lead and the others follow. It's just a society where we have all grouped to develop our skills. And how do we that? We do that by participating and organizing various programs on the common platform of ISTE. We also do that by sharing our knowledge with and learning from our fellow members. To do this one need not be Secretary or Joint Secretary or even a member of the Executive Body. We emphatically say this because one can always be actively involved in the functioning of ISTE as long he/she has the desire and capability to do so. No one can ever object one's active participation or role. If you really are interested in doing so, approach anyone of the Body and convey your feelings and willingness.
Thank you. Please continue being actively involved with ISTE and please let us know your opinions and suggestion. Because WE ARE LISTENING and will continue to do so.

Hi this is Rishi(Member of Executive council):
ReplyDeleteRam thank you for your views on Sec. and J.Sec.
I would like to add an idea or two to the clarification given in the home page..........
(My comments are innocuous)
Your comments have not gone atrophy. they come to discussion and have been taken up by the chair.
I entreat you to understand this. Although every decision of the Executive council can be impugned it is not to be vituperated.
The Chair remains the supreme authority of the college's student chapter(ISTE) and each individual's comments are taken up seriously.yours too......
My friend Sec. and J.Sec are only those people who pass on the Decisions of the chair and are not the leaders of any group... they exist only to serve the Executive body, this has nothing to do with the stage fear or initiation.
If you(an EBM) have the initiation even you can summon the Executive council(jr.) youself .so only those people who can pass on the decisions effectively are selected.
It is said by the chair that you observed them clearly I capitulate to you in that issue because even I failed to do that, I mean no flout.
Please keep writing to us .......
Rishi, to begin with there is no such thing as the Executive Council. All we have is an Executive Body.
ReplyDeleteYes, while the decision of the body can't be vituperated(I found the meaning here, http://www.thefreedictionary.com/vituperated , try it), they can still be critisized and protested.
But any such activity should be constructive in nature and should be done in a proper way with the best interests of ISTE at heart.
As for the supreme authority you mentioned, there is no such thing in ISTE here. ISTE is a democratic society.
And as you said, the Sec. and J. Sec are selected after vetting them thoroughly and all their capabilities are taken into consideration. And your idea of the role of their posts is in line with our idea. But we would like to add one more thing: while anyone, as you suggested, can take the initiative, the body members are obliged to do that.

ReplyDeleteThanks Mr Ram for your interest.
ReplyDeleteI have to reject your comment once again because I think your attitude seems to have crossed over from Scepticism to out right Cynicism. This I'm saying because this time you have included some baseless allegations in your comments about a person. Without any proof, we just can't take your word.
Having said that, I need to add that your effort hasn't GONE SWAY. (Well, I still haven't found out the meaning of that expression. I was only able to guess what it could mean from the context. And I can only hope that my usage here is correct). We have taken note of your allegations. It's just that we have no way of confirming them.
And I've forwarded all the comments you have written to those whom you have intended them, respectively.
And as for your suggestion that I stop giving references, I'm still at loss to understand what made you think that the reference was for you. It's ridiculus to think so. That was for everyone in general. In case you might have not noticed, I've added there that I too found the meaning of the word there.
And why stop using new words?
We can indeed improve our Vocab that way. I take the liberty to suggest everyone that you include as many new words in your comments as possible. And in case you have written some articles we would like to publish them here. Just send them to SRKRISTE@gmail.com and notify us here in the comments.
CORRECTION:
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry every one. I need to do a very slight yet significant correction. In response to Mr Rishi's comment, I wrote in the second comment of this posting that:
"And as you said, the Sec. and J. Sec are SELECTED after vetting them thoroughly...."
Here I commited a small yet very significant mistake. The mistake is that the word SELECTED should have been ELECTED. Instead of writing the reply on behalf of the Chair, I wrote the reply myself. So, I wrote in the reply about the due diligence I have exercised in SELECTING the Sec. & J. Sec. What I should have written istead is:
"The body members have ELECTED the Sec. & J. Sec, SELECTING the candidates of their choice among the nominees after vetting each of them thoroughly,....."
I regret this mistake deeply and assure everyone that I'll be more carefull in future.
